Australian Galleries is delighted to present Papermade, a dynamic collection of works on paper by more than 90 contemporary Australian artists, curated by Kathleen Coelho. This exhibition celebrates printmaking and its diversity along with the versatility of paper as a medium and its limitless potential for creating a visual dialogue and captures the history of Australian printmaking today.
Paper has its origins in the most ancient practices of making a mark or impression and remains deeply revered, respected and intrinsic to the cultural identity of the art world. This astutely curated paper fair features traditional processes; etching, drypoint, lithography, screenprint, linocut, mezzotint, stencil, monoprint and woodcut prints, with contemporary works in watercolour, gouache, pastel, charcoal and pen and is a remarkable showcase of the integrity, quality and breadth of artists who exhibit with Australian Galleries.
Each artist in this selection has a unique approach to creating original artworks and possesses both deft technical skill and a distinct visual aesthetic. Exploring myriad concepts and narratives across a wide variety of techniques; this vibrant and dynamic exhibition of figurative, landscape and abstract works on paper will leave a lasting impression.
